2015 Riverfront Blues Festival

The blues are back in Wilmington as the 2015 Riverfront Blues Festival is gearing up to take place from Friday, July 31st through Sunday, August 1st, 2015  at the Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park.

The Riverfront Blues Festival is a three-day, outdoor music festival held on the Wilmington waterfront. The longstanding blues festival has featured memorable performances from notable blues artists like Koko Taylor, Pinetop Perkins and Elvin Bishop.

2016 Standing Volunteer Committees

Get Involved! Serve on a Cityfest Standing Committee!

Each year Cityfest has a number of opportunities to serve on various standing committees. Service on a committee enables you to develop your leadership skills and use your expertise and experience to help guide Cityfest programs, events, and publications.

As a Cityfest volunteer, you may apply to serve on the following committees:

Merchandise – Duties: Supporting daily festival merchandise area, daily set-up & breakdown, sales, and inventory documentation. Daily set-up/breakdown, sales, returns, stocking, replenishing, and securing all merchandise being offered for sale. Complete opening and closing inventory. Work with Mayor’s Office staff to manage all sales transactions and daily totals.

General Event & Crowd Support Duties: Festival or event crowd management including
in-crowd contest execution, crowd perimeter management, patron assistance, festival information dissemination.

Vendors Area Management – Duties: Assist vendors in direction, information, and placement. Manage appropriate needs, and requests. Liaison between Vendors and Mayor’s Office Staff

Hospitality – Duties:
Greeting and welcoming attendees to City of Wilmington events. Assist with managing hospitality tents for Artists, Mayor’s Office staff, City of Wilmington Staff and City Council. Tents set-up/breakdown, stocking, replenishing, and securing all onsite hospitality tents. Working closely with staff to manage contracted caterers, and hospitality staff.

Bar Hospitality – Duties:
Serve wine and beer in designated bar locations.  Staff and provide service to all bar customers of the age of 21. Daily set-up/breakdown, sales, stocking, replenishing, and securing all beer and wine being offered for sale. Complete opening and closing inventory. Work with Mayor’s Office staff to manage all sales transactions and daily totals. Note: Only ABC certified servers need apply. 

Expectations and Requirements

  • Be willing to attend the scheduled volunteer meetings
  • Be available throughout the year to work with the committee via email and conference call
  • Have some experience and/or expertise to contribute to the committee
  • Volunteer terms vary in length, but they are all renewable each year
  • Be ready to have fun!
