Since its inception, the City of Wilmington Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) has produced and supported some of Wilmington’s long lived cultural resources. This includes programming such as; First Night, Art on the Town, Riverfront Blues Festival, Wilmington Children’s Chorus and the nationally-renowned, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival.
The mission of the Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) is to enrich Wilmington’s artistic energy and cultural vibrancy. The Office of Cultural Affairs will aim to promote, strengthen, improve and advocate for events and activities that contribute substantially to the city’s economy, quality of life and cultural vitality.
Today the MOCA continues to understand the evolving role of arts, culture and creativity in defining and enhancing the social fabric and quality of life of Wilmington citizens and visitors. Our work is committed to providing leadership to support the integration of arts and culture into every aspect of the life of our residents.
The vision for the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs is to foster an environment in which art, culture and creativity flourish for the sharing and benefit of all residents and visitors to enhance Wilmington’s reputation as a cultural destination.
