The Boysie Lowery Living Jazz Residency continues to attract gifted jazz musicians from all over North America. The program is a two-week performance and composition project for the next generation of jazz composers (aged 18-25) who, with their talent and passion, are keeping jazz alive. Featured here are fifteen polished jazz musicians. The program is named after the legendary educator Robert “Boysie” Lowery, who can claim jazz greats like Ernie Watts, Gerald Chavis, Marcus Belgrave and Clifford Brown as his students. Jonathan Whitney, Program Director for the Boysie Lower Living Jazz Residency, pairs emerging jazz musicians with a wonderful group of seasoned faculty that has included he likes of Warren wolf, Aaron Diehl, Aaron Parks and Ari Hoenig. With a helping hand from organizations including The Light up the Queen Foundation, Delaware College of Art and Design, The Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Delaware and the Kenny Family Foundation, the Boysie Lowery Living Jazz Residency continues to provide a special opportunity for young jazz musicians to develop their skills through an experience that has few rivals.
