The Delaware Children’s Museum is partnering with the City of Wilmington for its October Art Loop this week.

The Wilmington Art Loop is held on the first Friday night of every month – offering free admission to various museums around the City.

Joe Valenti is the marketing manager for the Riverfront Development Corporation.

He says this Friday’s Art Loop offers something a little different, “This particular month, we are partnering with the Art Loop – with the City – to unveil the new sculpture at the Delaware Children’s Museum that the City has gifted to the Museum; we’re rehoming their sculpture – the Dial 911 sculpture.”

Valenti says the Dial 911 sculpture has been at the Public Safety building since 1988; he says it just makes sense to move it to the Children’s Museum, “We can then house it and keep it there in perpetuity so that visitors can look at it and enjoy.”

Valenti says the Dial 911 sculpture, which honors first responders, will make its home in the Children’s Museums’ newly created Hallway of Helpers exhibit.

Valenti says also on Friday during the Art Loop, the Museum will unveil the Celebration of Creativity collection – donated by VSA (the State Organization on Arts and Disability) Delaware, which will be displayed near the museum’s entrance.

Both art installations will be unveiled during a brief ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Children’s Museum. The Art Loop runs from 5 until 8 p.m. and will feature light refreshments and live music.
